Waste Management - Medical
Waste management-medical refers to soiled dressings, body parts, diagnostic samples, blood, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and radioactive materials among others to protect the public and the environment from infectious disease-causing agents. Medical waste is also known as clinical waste from hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, veterinary hospitals and laboratories. Medical waste management is a serious concern for it could be infectious or bio-hazardous, such as blood, needles and scalpels and identifiable body parts. Sharps include used needles, lancets, and other devices capable of penetrating the skin are often incinerated. Medical waste management includes on-site, truck service, and mail-back disposal.
