Roofing material is the outermost layer on the roof of a building. A building's roofing material provides shelter from the sun, wind and rain plus insulation against heat and cold. Types of roofing material which are commercially available range from natural products such as thatch and slate to commercially produced products such as tiles and polycarbonate sheeting. Roofing materials have been used as weatherproofing material, such as sea grass, Rye, Red cedar and hardwood. Others include Shingles, Stone slab, Imbrex and tegula and Monk and nun, to concrete and Asbestos. Metal and copper roofs are also common.
