Oils - Vegetable
A vegetable oil is extracted from a plant. Vegetable oils are substances that are liquid at room temperature. Vegetable oils, solid at room temperature are sometimes called vegetable fats. Vegetable oils are used in various industrial applications such as emulsifiers, lubricants, plasticizers, surfactants, plastics, solvents, and resins. Vegetable oils are biodegradable, have low-Eco toxicity and low toxicity towards humans. Many vegetable oils are consumed directly, or indirectly as ingredients in food. Vegetable oils are used in baking, for shortening and texture. Vegetable oils are used to make soaps, skin products, candles, perfumes and cosmetics. Vegetable oils are increasingly being used in the electrical industry as insulators. Vegetable oil is also used to make biodiesel.
