Metals - Raw Materials
A raw material is a material used in the production or manufacturing of a good. Raw materials are often natural resources such as oil, iron and wood. Raw materials are often referred to as commodities. Lumber, metal ores and grain are all examples of raw materials. Metals are good conductors. Metals are valuable in electrical appliances and for carrying an electric current over a distance with little energy lost. Metal is useful for containers to heat materials over a flame. Metal is also used for heat sinks to protect sensitive equipment from overheating.
