Investment companies and advisers gives advice on investing in securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or exchange traded funds. Investment advisers also manage portfolios of securities. Investment companies and advisers are either paid in percentage of the value of assets they manage for clients, an hourly fee, fixed fee or a commission on the securities they sell. Investment advisors take into account a client's income, assets, age, tax burden and financial expectations and recommend investments. Investment advisors may work with individual investors or large institutional accounts.
