Insulation contractors are skilled workers who install thermal, vapor, smoke, and all other different sorts of insulation materials that insulate buildings and equipment. Insulation contractors use various techniques to install different kinds of insulation such as stapling, taping, spraying, cementing, and fastening with wire bands. Insulation contractors apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Insulation contractors also determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, fit insulation and install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage. Most insulation workers are employed in the construction industry, but some also work in shipbuilding and other manufacturing industries in need for heating and cooling systems.
