Earthing & Lightning Protection Equipment
Lightning protection equipment protects a structure from damage following lightning strikes. Lightning protection equipment intercepts such strikes and safely pass their extremely high currents to ground. A lightning protection system includes a set-up of air terminals, bonding conductors and ground electrodes to provide a low impedance path to ground for potential strikes. Lightning protection equipment is used to thwart or minimize damage to structures done by lightning strikes. Lightning protection equipment also reduces fire hazards which lightning strikes pose to structures. However, no lightning protection equipment can guarantee absolute safety from lightning. Lightning protection equipment includes lightning rods or strike termination devices, bonding conductors, ground terminals, earthing rods, plates, or mesh etc.
