Costumes refers to a distinctive dress-style of a particular people, class, or period. Costumes reflect not only a person’s cultural heritage, but also an era long gone. Costumes form an intricate part of a country’s history. Costumes are indicative of a particular style, common in masquerades, fancy dress parties and in theatrical performances. Costumes also promote role-play in children, with children dressing in characters from history or fiction like pirates, or cowboys or common jobs like nurses or police officers, or animals such as those seen in zoos or farms.
