A general contractor oversees every day progress of a construction site. General contractors assess related documents, project-specific and referred to as tender documents. General contractors also consider materials and equipment costs and cost of labor to then provide an approximate price for the project. General contractors are most often called project engineer for construction projects as they deal with budgets and blueprints. General contractors provide material, labor and necessary equipment to ensure smooth construction progress. General contractors also apply for building permits and provide short-term utilities on site, manage personnel, monitor schedules and cash flows, and maintain accurate records.
