More about Ras Al Khaimah

Ras al-Khaimah, which in Arabic means “the top of the tent", is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. It is an ideally situated city, located as it is in one of the busiest trade routes in the world, as well as being blessed with stunning terrain all around and endless kilometers of pristine beaches.

Ras Al Khaimah has experienced much of the same growth that has in recent years swept across many other parts of the emirates, a growth that is apparent in the many residential and commercial developments that can now be seen all over the city. All of these factors come together to make Ras Al Khaimah an ideal location, not only for tourists, but also for non-residents who are planning to relocate here

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has an impressive archaeological heritage and a very rich history. This area had always enticed settlers with its unique combination of all the four types of landscapes found in different parts of the United Arab Emirates: the fertile plains, the mountainous region, coastal areas and the desert environment.

Today Ras Al Khaimah is a growing leisure destination.  The emirate has 64 kilometers of beach along the clear blue Arabian Gulf.  The distant Al Hajjar Mountains appearing on the horizon long before you reach City of RAK.  It is one of the most wonderful sights in all of the UAE.

After a while the landscape changes and the red sandy dunes are decorated with meandering camels, ancient watch towers and new arabesque residential areas.

The mountain range extends 46 kilometers with peaks reaching heights of 2000 meters.  At their foot, on the last stretch of plain before the mountains meets the water lies the town of Ras Al Khaimah.  This area has been inhabited for the past 4,000 years.  The fertile agricultural land served as the food basket for the emirates of the Omani coast during the sixties and seventies of the last century.

There are heritage sites for history lovers, mountain treks and desert safaris for the adventurous, Wadis, natural springs and mangroves teeming with flora and fauna for nature lovers, water skiing, diving, golf, bowling, shooting, hobby flying to camel racing for sports enthusiasts, modern malls, supermarkets, boutiques carrying top international brands to the Old Souk and bazaars selling endemic artifacts crafts and souvenirs for shoppers, and fine restaurants and dining places serving exotic and regular cuisine for the gourmets.
